Stick to this, fun matters more than what's better
Play what u want to play.
If u like Mystic more -> Play it
If u like Priest more -> Play it
If you want a true answer about wich one is better: tl;dr Mystic
why? the reason is simple
- Mystic can have higher uptimes of power-up compared to Priest
- Mysic gains more crit power thanks to thrall of wrath
- Mystic does more dps, therefore contributes more to party dps
- Mystic has contagion which is an extra 4% damage for 36s during burst
Only pros I can see from Priest is higher self heal and additional anti-kd from holy burst
Sadly this is the reality, while I personally prefer playing Priest, must admit Mystic is far superior.

But yeah, the theoreticall highest possible damage using anything possible, gunner might be top dps.
You seem like talking like Zerks are purely ethical, probably ethical unleash makes archer/warrior a better class

Judging by DPS logs from moongourd.com/eu Gunner seems to share first place in DPS together with Berserker, going to link you two bosses from the new dungeon Grotto (HM)
If you enjoyed to play Gunner in the past this is the right moment to start playing it again because now it rocks!

But keep in mind having a low ping is important otherwise you will lose about 500k dps compared to other warriors
I don't think it's gonna ping is gonna be a concern until he learns warrior basics
I guess only expert players feel the impact of higher ping -

2.0 is noted by ancient mightyHope this will be helpful
PS: make sure to have the red text on the bottom when you buying, because for example Ancient (without mighty after) is a simple 2% HP regen without the crit passive

Make sure about the following
- You are using Hardy Crystals on Armor
- You have equal (or better) gear than people who facetank mechanics
- Check your Buff Tray for Kaia Shield or Enhanced Devoted Favor
- Some classes (like warrior) have damage reduction skills which allow them to take 50% less damage from boss skills
- Check if the boss is in enrage (when boss bar glows red), you have extra 20% damage reduction during enrage (28.8% if you have 4x Poisedly Dyads on your weapon)
I guess that's about it , you will get used to facetank with time there's many stuff you need to check out but mostly learn how much damage bosses deal to you
You can check system chat to see how much damage you actually got, compare it with your current HP and if it's pretty close you can use Iron Will to facetank it next time
